Celebrations at Cape Leeuwin

On the 15th, 16th, 17th of August 2008 the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse celebrated three very important milestones: International Lighthouse Day, 111 years of recording meteorological data and the 100 year anniversary of the Bureau of Meteorology.

It was a spectacular and exciting weekend – even the whales put on a show! Over 600 visitors enjoyed a range of exciting range of activities over the three days including; themed guided tours; amateur radio broadcasting, free presentations and displays on a fascinating historical, cultural and environmental aspect of the lighthouse and the cape and the opportunity to speak with old lighthouse keepers and listen to talks on climate change hosted by the Bureau of Meteorology.

The lighthouse precinct is open from 8:45am to 5pm daily. Last guided tour at 4pm.
